About this postcard
A winding road curves through Penn Valley Park in Kansas City, Missouri, past grassy slopes and trees under a colorful sunset sky. A small stone marker or monument sits on the left, tied by the caption to the Santa Fe Trail (spelled "Sante Fe" on the card). The Santa Fe Trail was the 19th-century overland trade route between Missouri and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Kansas City later marked its place on that route. Penn Valley Park, part of the city's early park and boulevard system, offered a scenic drive close to downtown.
