About this postcard

A group of men in early 1900s dress stand along a shallow pool in a rocky, tree-lined gorge. A tall cliff face rises on the right, with tall trees on the left. The setting is Deer Park, a scenic spot near Starved Rock, the sandstone bluff above the Illinois River that drew excursionists of the period. Visitors came for the shaded ravines and rock formations, and postcards served as souvenirs of the outing.
