About this postcard
The view looks across a broad lawn in Point Defiance Park, with beds of red and white flowers and a curving walkway at right. Tall evergreen firs rise behind the plantings, and a rustic structure is partly visible among the trees. Point Defiance Park, set on a peninsula on Puget Sound, was Tacoma's large municipal park and a popular place for walks and picnics in the early 1900s. Its mix of formal gardens and old-growth forest made it a natural subject for postcards. The sender's Easter note mentions seeing "Hamilton make three flights today," likely pioneer aviator Charles K. Hamilton, a reminder that exhibition flying was still a novelty in 1910.
