About this postcard

Black-and-white view of Scotty's Castle, the Spanish Colonial Revival retreat in Death Valley, set against bare desert mountains. Palm trees, cactus, and yucca frame the courtyard, where several 1930s automobiles are parked. The compound was built for Chicago insurance executive Albert M. Johnson and takes its name from Walter Scott, the prospector known as Death Valley Scotty.
