About this postcard

A black-and-white view shows Scotty's Castle, a Spanish Colonial Revival building with a tower and an American flag, framed by tall palm trees against desert mountains. Chicago insurance executive Albert M. Johnson began the ranch house in the 1920s and named it for his friend Walter Scott, the prospector and storyteller known as Death Valley Scotty. The remote compound became a tourist stop in the desert.
