About this postcard
The view looks down Sea Road from Boscombe Pier, with a double-decker bus on the right, pedestrians on the sidewalks, and rows of late Victorian and Edwardian buildings lining both sides. A tall street lamp stands in the foreground. The sender writes of "the blissful fellowship" and points out that their house is on the left side of the picture, with the senders in front. Boscombe grew as a seaside resort suburb of Bournemouth in the late 19th century, and its pier and Sea Road served holidaymakers and boarding houses. The message describes an enjoyable week and a good Sunday, a small record of a south-coast holiday.
