About this postcard
The picture shows the vast interior of the Great Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah, packed with a congregation during a service, the great pipe organ rising at the rear of the hall beneath a star emblem and the word "UTAH," with American flags flanking a portrait panel. The Tabernacle, completed by the Latter-day Saints in 1867, was famed for its broad elliptical dome and for the organ built by Joseph Ridges, long among the largest in the United States. Cards like this one record the huge crowds that gathered there for conferences and worship in the early twentieth century.
