About this postcard

A wide paved boulevard stretches away from the viewer, lined with trees and lawns, with a large domed classical building of Augustana College rising on the right above a grassy terrace and steps. A few automobiles are visible on the street. Augustana College, founded in 1860 by Swedish Lutheran immigrants, moved to its present Rock Island campus in the 1870s and became a center of Swedish-American education in the Midwest; the domed structure shown is the college's main academic building of the early twentieth century.
