Sheep at the Falls, Malden, Massachusetts, circa 1910

Card type
Printed photo

About this postcard

A flock of sheep grazes across an open pasture, with a large bare-branched tree at the left and broad shade trees along a wooded ridge in the background. The printed caption names the spot as "The Falls" in Malden, Massachusetts, a neighborhood along the Mystic River where small farms and market gardens persisted into the early 20th century. The halftone rendering of a photograph is typical of inexpensive view cards issued around 1905–1915.
