Silver Cascade waterfall, Alton Bay, NH, 1903

About this postcard

Silver Cascade drops in a white ribbon over dark, tree-shaded rocks. The caption ties the view to Alton Bay, New Hampshire, a summer resort at the southern tip of Lake Winnipesaukee. In the early 1900s, lake visitors bought souvenir cards like this to send home, and this one carried a note from The Pinecroft dated August 26, 1903, to a niece in Amesbury, Massachusetts.

The Pinecroft, Aug. 26, 1903. Mama's letter received and am very glad to do as she asked. Should have sent the postals through the mail at first but thought you would prefer them without writing on them Aunt Mattie.
