A black-and-white halftone view of a white cascade tumbling between dark, tree-shaded rocks, printed on a card sold as a souvenir of Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Alton Bay, at the southern tip of Lake Winnipesaukee, was a busy summer resort town in the early 1900s, and cards like this were commonly bought by vacationers to send home. The card was written on and posted in August 1903, in the undivided-back era when the message went on the picture side.
