Sir Donald, Uto, and Eagle Peak, Canadian Rockies, 1909

About this postcard

Three snow-capped peaks, Sir Donald, Uto, and Eagle Peak, rise above densely forested lower slopes. The mountains show reddish rock faces and patches of snow. The printed caption groups them with the Canadian Rockies, though Mount Sir Donald and its neighbors stand in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia, near Rogers Pass. Mount Sir Donald was named for Donald A. Smith, a Canadian Pacific Railway financier and Hudson's Bay Company governor. In the early 1900s, the railway promoted this mountain country as a scenic destination, and views like this circulated as postcards for travelers and correspondents.
