About this postcard

A tinted view looking down Sixth Avenue in Pittsburgh, with trolley cars and a horse-drawn wagon on the tracks and pedestrians along the sidewalks; the tall white stone building at center is the Duquesne Club, flanked by a Gothic church tower at left and brick commercial blocks with striped awnings at right. The Duquesne Club, a private gentlemen's club founded in 1873, occupied this Richardsonian Romanesque building on Sixth Avenue from 1890. The scene captures the dense downtown business district of early twentieth-century Pittsburgh.
