About this postcard
The picture shows a lone skier in a hat and knickers pausing on a snowy slope among snow-laden evergreens, with a sunlit mountain peak and pink-tinted clouds behind. The printed caption calls the place "Romantic Alta, Utah, near Salt Lake City," and the slogan reads "Come Up and Ski Me Sometime." The card also points to Alta's mining past, when gold and silver were taken from the earth and visitors could go underground in the Old Emma mine. By the 1940s, Alta was known as a ski destination, but the card keeps the old-time western mining days in view.
