About this postcard
A view of the Sky Line Drive, a road blasted along the face of a sheer red granite cliff, with two tunnels cut through the rock and an early automobile on the roadway. Below, in the valley of the Arkansas River, the tracks of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad follow the canyon floor toward the Royal Gorge. The Royal Gorge, a 1,000-foot-deep canyon southwest of Cañon City, Colorado, was a famous scenic attraction and the route of the Denver & Rio Grande's narrow-gauge line, which clung to a ledge above the river.
