About this postcard

Night view of the Sky Ride at the 1933-34 Century of Progress exposition in Chicago. Twin steel towers rise over the lagoon, searchlights fan from their tops, and the fair's illuminated pavilions glow along the water. Double-decked rocket cars hang from four cable tracks and carry visitors between and around the towers, which the caption gives as 600 feet high. The ride was one of the fair's most popular attractions and a feat of engineering that let fairgoers cross the grounds in the air.
