Skyline of Detroit from the Detroit River, Detroit, Michigan, circa 1940

About this postcard

A view across the Detroit River toward the downtown Detroit skyline, with a white excursion steamer and other vessels moored along the waterfront in the foreground. The tall tower at center-left is the Greater Penobscot Building, and the golden-topped tower beside it is the Guardian Building, both landmarks of the city's 1920s building boom. The card's linen-era coloring and the river vantage point were standard for mid-century Detroit souvenir views.
