About this postcard
The picture shows the interior of the smoking car of the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Pennsylvania Special," looking down the aisle past tufted green leather seats and settees toward a uniformed attendant standing at the far end. The car is finished with paneled wood columns, arched and painted ceiling panels, and brass electroliers with frosted glass shades. The Pennsylvania Special was the road's extra-fare, all-Pullman flyer between New York and Chicago, introduced in 1902 and renamed the Broadway Limited in 1912, so this view shows the train in its pre-1912 form.
