Snow-capped Mt. Shasta, California, circa 1938

About this postcard

A sepia-toned view of snow-capped Mount Shasta rising above a dense evergreen forest. Tall pine trees frame the foreground and middle ground, with the mountain's broad cone filling the distance. Mount Shasta is a prominent stratovolcano in the Cascade Range and a landmark of northern California. Its snowfields and glaciers stand above the pine forests of Siskiyou County, a landscape that drew tourists and climbers and made the peak a familiar subject for postcards.
