A New Year's greeting centers on an oval winter scene: a snow-covered cottage beside a stone bridge, a horse and figure on a snowy road, and a sunset sky. An icy border with holly and red poinsettia blossoms frames the vignette, and the lettering reads 'A Happy New Year.' Anna Nichols sent the card to Margaret Logan in Walton, New York, with a loving message for the coming year. Illustrated holiday postcards of the early 1900s often paired idealized snow scenes with formal greetings, a common way to send good wishes.
