About this postcard

The Mother's Army and Navy League Memorial Colonnade in Mobile, Alabama, honors 61 service members from Mobile and Mobile County who died in World War I. The open colonnade of fluted columns on a stepped platform is built entirely of Alabama marble and faces a circular reflecting pool and fountain. Bronze tablets carry the names of the dead. Flower beds and trees surround the memorial, with a brick apartment block at the right. The park was landscaped almost entirely with azaleas, a flower closely associated with Mobile.
