About this postcard

A Soviet holiday greeting design shows a large gold hammer and sickle beneath a five-pointed star, framed by red carnations and a red ribbon with blue edging against a red ground filled with golden fireworks and stars. The caption 'СЛАВА ОКТЯБРЮ!' ('Glory to October!') marks the October Revolution of 1917, which the USSR commemorated each 7 November with military parades and fireworks. The handwritten message is a family holiday greeting, with news of relatives and a call-up to the army. State publishers issued cards like this in large numbers for the November celebrations in the late 1970s.
