About this postcard

The card pictures the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, with the U.S. Naval Hospital complex on the hillside beyond, captioned "The World's Largest Outdoor Organ and U. S. Naval Hospital." The Spreckels Organ, a gift of John D. and Adolph B. Spreckels, was dedicated in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition and is one of the world's largest outdoor pipe organs. The Naval Hospital seen in the distance was a major San Diego military medical facility, and Balboa Park itself hosted the 1915–16 Panama-California Exposition and the 1935–36 California Pacific International Exposition.
