A rocky, spruce-covered point reaches into calm water at the mouth of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. A lone figure stands on the ledges at left, with dark rocks in the foreground and a low far shoreline at right. Spruce Point lies across the harbor from the village, which by the early 1900s drew summer visitors from Boston and other cities by steamer and rail. The Hugh C. Leighton Co. of Portland, Maine, published the view, one of many New England cards the firm had printed in Germany in the years before the war.
Chromolithograph-style color printing with grainy texture; light edge and corner wear; faint pencil dealer mark in upper right corner of front; no white border.

Leighton Co., Manufacturers, Portland, ME., U.S.A., printed in Frankfort o/Main, Germany, No. 2977. Pencil dealer marks ('112 2.00', 'D-F') at corners; light edge wear.
