About this postcard

A haloed young woman in a blue robe and red mantle, wearing a cross, plays a small pipe organ. Three winged cherubs hover above her, holding sprays of roses and lilies. The printed caption names her St. Cecelia, a variant spelling of St. Cecilia, the Roman virgin martyr and patron saint of music, traditionally shown at an organ or with musical instruments. Her feast day on November 22 made her a familiar figure in Catholic devotional art, often shown with angelic attendants and flowers.
