About this postcard

St. Mary Academy and the Catholic church stand across an unpaved street in O'Neill, Nebraska: a large brick school with a central tower, and a church with a rose window and twin towers. Utility poles and wires cross the foreground, and trees line the buildings. O'Neill, the Holt County seat, was settled by Irish immigrants in the 1870s and named for the Irish nationalist John O'Neill, so a Catholic academy and church sat at the center of the town's identity. The message on the back is a bit of small-town scheming: a neighbor "tried to knock your deal," and the writer promises to take the parties up and show them "we didnt Miss Anything."
