The view shows St. Patrick's Cathedral on Fifth Avenue in New York, its twin Gothic spires and ornate stone facade rising above the surrounding buildings. A street runs along the lower edge, placing the cathedral in the dense city rather than in isolation. Completed in 1879 and designed by James Renwick Jr., the cathedral was a major Gothic Revival landmark; its twin towers were finished in 1888. By the early 1900s it was a familiar subject for postcard publishers.
White border at bottom with printed caption; red series number 328 at lower right; color lithograph.
Postmark: none readable — the back is entirely blank aged card stock with light foxing and a few stains; no address, message, stamp, or imprint. Front (context only) is a color lithograph of St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York, with a white caption strip along the bottom edge.
