St. Patrick's Day greeting with shamrocks, horseshoe and cottage scene, circa 1910

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A St. Patrick's Day greeting design: four green shamrocks and a white horseshoe with red nail marks frame a central panel showing a thatched cottage, a rainbow and evergreen branches against a mottled sky. The shamrocks and horseshoe are raised in relief against a textured grey-brown ground, a common treatment for Irish holiday cards of the early twentieth century, when shamrock, horseshoe and rainbow motifs were combined as emblems of luck and blessing.
