St. Patrick's Day in the Morning, Lexington, KY, 1910

About this postcard

A St. Patrick's Day greeting shows a boy and girl in green, stylized eighteenth-century dress dancing hand in hand inside a white oval. Green ribbons frame the oval, and the boy carries a green top hat and umbrella. The printed caption reads "St. Patrick's Day in the Morning." By 1910, St. Patrick's Day was a widely observed Irish-American holiday, and illustrated postcards were a common way to send holiday greetings. The card's chatty note to a boy in rural Goochland County, Virginia, gives the printed greeting a personal, local exchange.
