About this postcard

St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church stands behind a low brick wall and iron gate, its white stucco walls, stepped parapet, round window, and arched entry rising above a foreground garden of roses and other flowers. The Santa Catalina Mountains fill the distance beyond the church. The church is roofed with hand-made imported Spanish tile, and its Old World interior centers on a 12-foot-square plate glass window over the altar. Through that window, changing clouds and sunlight play on the foothills of the Santa Catalinas. The church was built in the 1930s in Spanish Colonial Revival style, with designs associated with Tucson architect Josias Joesler, and it remains a landmark in the city's foothills.
