A spray of cyclamen fills the card: white and pink-magenta blooms with swept-back petals rise above heart-shaped, mottled green leaves against a plain pale blue ground. The printed greeting "St. Valentine's Greeting" sits at the upper left in ornate Art Nouveau lettering.
Cyclamen, a winter bloomer, suited the February holiday, and floral Valentines of the period often used such blooms to carry sentimental messages. Many color-printed cards of the early 1900s were produced in Germany for the American market.
Plain pale blue background, no white border; slight corner and edge wear, small crease at upper right; no publisher imprint visible on the front.
Postmark: S BY / FEB / 6-30P / 19 / MASS (partly obscured by flag cancel). Undivided back with printed "THIS SIDE FOR THE ADDRESS." and ornate green "Post Card" heading; 1¢ green Franklin adhesive stamp; card toned, soiled and edge-worn.
