About this postcard
A spray of cyclamen — white and pink-magenta blooms with heart-shaped, mottled green leaves — lies against a plain pale blue ground, with the greeting "St. Valentine's Greeting" printed in ornate Art Nouveau lettering at the upper left. Cyclamen, with its nodding flowers and swept-back petals, was a favorite motif of turn-of-the-century Valentine cards, whose floral symbolism often stood in for sentiments the sender could not write outright. Cards of this style were typically printed in Germany for the American market in the years just before World War I.
