A stagecoach crowded with passengers and a driver, drawn by four horses, waits in the street of a western mining town. A mounted rider carrying a rifle leads the team past a red-painted storefront, where a crowd of men in hats and suits has gathered. Pine-covered mountains rise behind the buildings. The caption, "Off for the Mines," places the scene in the travel and labor of the mining West, when stage lines carried people and supplies to camps that railroads did not always reach.
White border around the image; printed caption and publisher line in blue ink in the lower margin.
No postmark. Divided-back "PHOSTINT" card with white border, Detroit Publishing Co. imprint; pencil message written sideways on the message side.
