A single blue star inside a red-bordered rectangle, the service-star emblem, with the verse 'Star of My Life, so far away / May God protect you night and day' beside it. The blue star in a red border was the home-front sign of a family with someone in the armed forces, a custom that began during World War I. The verse turns that public notice into a personal prayer for safe return.
