A broad sheet of water fills the middle distance, with wooded hills rising beyond and dark evergreen branches framing the view. A small building and open ground sit on the far shore at right. The caption identifies the scene as State Camp at Peekskill, New York, the New York National Guard's summer encampment in the Hudson Highlands, now Camp Smith. Guard units from across the state gathered there for annual drills, and the surrounding highlands drew excursionists in the early 1900s.
Red printed caption at upper right; card number '201,826' and a 'JV' monogram printed at lower left. Light surface wear and faint staining; divided-back era lithograph with white margin at edges.
No postmark or stamp present; divided-back "POST CARD" with Valentine & Sons globe imprint; heavy paper loss/scraping across the address side has erased any address or message; printed in Great Britain.
