The card shows the Kentucky State Reformatory at La Grange: a long, low institutional range of pale stone or concrete with a tall central tower rising above it, lawns and flower beds in front, and 1930sā40s automobiles parked along the drive. The prison complex was built in the 1930s with federal assistance and received its first inmates at the end of that decade, replacing the older state penitentiary at Frankfort. The printed caption names the institution and town directly.
White border; visible linen (crosshatch) texture; printed card number 28369-N at lower right; slight edge wear.
No postmark; card is unused and unaddressed. Linen-era Curteich back (undivided, stamp box top right), white border on front; light age soiling only.
