The view looks down State Street from the Pennsylvania State Capitol grounds, with the tall, light-colored State Street Building rising at the corner. Beyond it are a Gothic church spire, an obelisk monument, and tree-lined parkland. Harrisburg has been Pennsylvania's capital since 1812, and the blocks facing the Capitol park developed in the early 20th century with apartment hotels and commercial buildings.
