About this postcard
A view looking down State Street from the Pennsylvania State Capitol grounds in Harrisburg, with the tall, light-colored State Street Building (an apartment/hotel block of the 1920s-30s) dominating the corner and a Gothic church spire, an obelisk monument and tree-lined parkland beyond. The card's own caption names the scene as the State Street Building seen from the Capitol. Harrisburg has served as Pennsylvania's capital since 1812, and this stretch of State Street developed in the early 20th century with apartment hotels and commercial blocks facing the Capitol park.
