About this postcard

A tinted view looks down State Street from its intersection with Broadway in Albany, New York, with trolley cars and horse-drawn wagons sharing the broad roadway and pedestrians on the sidewalks. Tall commercial blocks line both sides, and the towers and red-roofed mass of the city's civic buildings rise at the head of the street in the distance. State Street was Albany's principal commercial thoroughfare, running from the Hudson River waterfront up to Capitol Hill, and the trolley tracks visible here carried the city's street railway traffic in the early 20th century.
