A long two-story red-brick hospital building with white-trimmed porches, dormers and chimneys, seen across a lawn with flower beds and a curving walk. Jefferson Barracks, established in 1826 south of St. Louis on the Mississippi River, was one of the Army's oldest installations and a major training and medical post; its station hospital served generations of soldiers from the Civil War era through the World Wars. The card's linen texture and Curt Teich-style number date it to the mid-20th century.
White border; visible linen (crosshatch) texture; printed number 1B-H934 at lower right.
No postmark — card is unused. Linen-era divided-back Curt Teich 'C.T. Art-Colortone' postcard (blue imprint, one-cent stamp box); light soiling/foxing on the back, corners sharp.
