About this postcard
The Station Hospital at Jefferson Barracks is a long two-story red-brick building with white-trimmed porches, dormers, and chimneys, set behind a lawn with flower beds and a curving walk. Jefferson Barracks, established in 1826 just outside St. Louis, was one of the Army's oldest posts; during the Civil War, General U.S. Grant headquartered there. The caption notes that the post had only recently become exclusively an Air Corps Replacement Training Center, placing the hospital within the Army's buildup for aircrew training in the early 1940s.
