About this postcard

Statue of Liberty seen from a low angle, rising above its stone pedestal with an American flag in a pedestal window and hedges and shrubs at the base. It stands on Bedloe's Island, 1¾ miles southwest of the Battery, now Liberty Island. France presented the statue to the United States in 1884, and it was dedicated in New York Harbor in 1886. Designed by August Bartholdi, it was a familiar patriotic symbol and harbor landmark by the 1930s.
