About this postcard

A red-brick, Colonial Revival library with a white-columned portico and tall arched windows, set behind a lawn and shrubs; the building's name, "STEWART MEMORIAL LIBRARY," is carved across the entablature. Coe College, a private liberal arts college founded in 1851 and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, has occupied its Cedar Rapids campus since the 1880s, and Stewart Memorial Library has long served as its central library. The tidy landscaping and clear sky present the building as a point of campus pride.
