Strawberry packing shed, Missouri Ozarks, 1945

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

Workers stand behind a long wooden table sorting and packing freshly picked strawberries into quart baskets and wooden crates, with filled baskets stacked in the foreground. The printed caption names the crop and region as "Ozark Strawberries, Southern Missouri," and a red badge in the corner reads "Missouri, The 'Show-Me' State." The Ozarks of southern Missouri were a noted strawberry-producing area in the early-to-mid twentieth century, and the scene shows the packing-shed stage between field harvest and shipment.
