About this postcard
Workers stand behind a long wooden table sorting and packing freshly picked strawberries into small quart baskets and wooden crates, with more filled baskets stacked in the foreground. The printed caption names the crop and region as "Ozark Strawberries, Southern Missouri," and a red badge in the corner reads "Missouri, The 'Show-Me' State." The Ozarks of southern Missouri were a noted strawberry-producing area in the early-to-mid twentieth century, with growers shipping berries north by rail and truck; the scene shows the packing-shed stage between field harvest and shipment.
