About this postcard

A black-and-white view of a broad city street or plaza dominated on the left by a tall, multi-story masonry commercial block whose upper facade carries a clock, with rows of shopfronts at street level and pedestrians on the pavement. In the foreground an iron bridge or viaduct with heavy lattice-work railing and a curved truss sweeps across the view, and a dark mass at center-right appears to be a streetcar or vehicle crossing it. No caption or imprint is printed on the picture side, so the city cannot be identified from the scan alone.

POST CARD PUT ONE-CENT STAMP HERE THIS SPACE FOR CORRESPONDENCE FOR ADDRESS ONLY Cooper Union, New York.—The Cooper Institute, or "Union for the advancement of science and art," occupies a huge brown stone building on Broadway. It is the gift of Peter Cooper, who erected it in 1857 at a cost of $600,000, and further endowed the Union with $200,000 for the support of library, reading rooms, etc.
