Studio portrait of a baby in knit cap and coat, 1912

Card type
Real photo

About this postcard

Sepia-toned studio photograph of an infant seated on a dark patterned surface, wearing a light knit bonnet and a buttoned coat with soft shoes. The child looks off to the right, and a supporting adult's hand or arm appears at the right edge. Sent to Jane Muller in January 1912, the card carries the note "This is me," turning the baby's portrait into a personal introduction. Real-photo postcards were a common way to share family portraits in the early 1910s.
