Studio portrait of a woman in a white blouse with a large dark bow at the neck, posed against a patterned backdrop. The message presents the image as the sender's own likeness: Jolan writes from Waltham to Gertrude Sanderson in Framingham that she will be on hand on January 28 and jokes she probably will not look as she does here, "as though I had the mumps." The tone is affectionate and teasing, the kind of note that made a portrait card a personal visit in the mail.

Lovingly yours,
Jolan.
