A studio portrait of a young girl, perhaps eight to ten years old, standing beside a turned-wood chair in a photographer's studio. She wears a white dress with ruffled collar and scalloped hem, white stockings and dark strap shoes, and rests one hand on the chair back against a painted backdrop with a window and foliage motif. Such cabinet-era and real-photo studio portraits were commonly made in the first two decades of the twentieth century for family keepsakes.
