A sepia-toned studio portrait of a boy or young man, shown from the chest up against a painted backdrop of clouds and hazy hills. He wears a heavy tweed suit jacket, a stiff white collar and a plaid tie, with his hair parted and combed flat โ typical of adolescent dress in the Edwardian era. Such real-photo postcards were made by local photographers from a negative of the sitter and were commonly exchanged as family keepsakes in the first two decades of the twentieth century.
